The Actual Pages: The Study of the Future An Agenda for Research March 21, 1983 9:00 AM Est at White House Commentary Line

https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/148/148%20Impotent%20and%20Obsolete.pdf?w=c2772b07

The Commentary about the page 149 was chosen at random on or about the specified time in Hawaii. It was "it seems this is what we are up against." This very random event, made on the spot to produce produce ideas, was for myself to acknowledge an education as BA in political science at the University of Hawaii. An enthusiasm for Future Studies marked those years along with other active points of participation.

The above unfortunate if you will, page 148 makes sense in the overall ambiance of those times as being a cue for the phrase "impotent and obsolete." Apart from the psychological warfare during those days, it appears inappropriate.

I cannot say for certain these two pages constitute a "briefing from the National Science Foundation," cited in Time Magazine and other sources about SDI. Nonetheless the gist of the entire article matters, especially as addressing the force structure issues.

JFK Inaugural Speech

This is the kind of speech we need today! The issues are clear, freedom versus tyranny. At the same time concepts of a new partnership of people, to help others to help themselves, was a key theme, without the disastrous strings attached to "a far more iron tyranny."

A far more iron tyranny is what we are facing today, with a mask over what JFK wanted. Proposals today are not the same. America has not had a President quoting the Bible in such a clear way for a very long time. His proposal for a new frontier was not a demand, but a task worthy in itself without an authoritarian call for implementation. If there is any hint of a new world order, it has to deal with a far more beneficial set of outcomes within a better concept of the free market.

Since the Soviet Union and its Godlessness has gone, our choice between freedom and tyranny has had few internal advocates. But that choice is the most important. We are in the midst of a very few people demanding control, and having no plan other than financial tyranny into an unending dystopia.

Bobby Fischer

Chess and Negotiations was a great point of understanding for me. After all I had known the late USAF Colonel Ed Edmondson here in Hawaii, while considering what to do with my life in 1979 when I first really met him. He was the manager for Robert James Fischer at Iceland, and had retired here to Hawaii with his wife Nancy who had family here.

Ed was there when I won the Hawaii State Chess Championship preliminaries in 1979 played at the University of Hawaii. Chess was really no career for most people, unless you are at World Championship level and actively writing books. Even then you have to write many books to make any kind of livelihood, and it is a specialty market.

Ed shared some interesting stories including his note about the Fischer-Taimanov match when he suggested in the next to final game adjournment 41. Rxf6 for Taimanov, Bobby scolded him upon instantly knowing it lost that Rook to 41....Qd4 check. Well of course he was quite humored when Taimanov obliged, and dropped the rook and next game to lose the match 6-0. Game 5 was not necessarily an easy win for Black.

Mrs. Edmondson remarked to me recently that Bobby was a house guest in 1971 for a while, and that she cooked dinner for him even when Ed was going out to meet other Grandmaster players. Bobby would stay home, eat dinner, and then study chess. He was really dedicated to the game.

In any event Ed was finishing his manuscript of a book about the Karpov-Korchinoi match at the Philippines in 1978, as he was there observing. Bobby had already missed the defense of his FIDE title in 1975 due to a dispute over the terms of it. Karpov got those terms and more for this World Championship match. But there was a great deal of psychological warfare in it. That was the gist of his detailed book.

In any event I was called upon to proof read his book, which was a great honor for me.

Now Bobby Fischer has passed away, one best chess hero who inspired many victories over the board.

In 1993 as noted in another writing, I worked the full two months at the Kasparov-Short match in London. That was one of the greatest experiences in my life, and I remember Bobby for his inspiration in the chess world. Most of all chess has made it possible for me to meet some of the greatest people in diverse backgrounds, professional, and every area of study. It is this interest in meeting people that has been the greatest part of playing the game for me.

One illustration of this was how I was able to do a simultaneous set of games in a basketball gym in Greenwich, and perhaps I should have allowed some victories to inspire the young players, but won all the games. Chess is a game for the young, for the old and everyone. I was glad to be a hero for the young in some way, while I was participating in the work of a World Chess Championship.

Here is an interesting article on Fischer from the New York Times.

Another article details Fischer at Chessbase.

Gary Kasparov

This page was originally posted to contact others rather than as any tool of self promotion. The decision was to produce an introduction and to portend basic data conceptual to the ideas and ideals that have formed both a future studies and chess studies reference. It is autobiographical and biographical.

My friend Gary Kasparov was detained recently regarding the critical Russian election issues involved with his formulation of a candidacy. For me an involvement in the political process has proceeded on faith, rather than upon any public involvement. At the match in London in 1993 in the press room not to the players, Eric Schiller made the comment that I had "written SDI." He had stayed at my apartment in Hawaii in 1991, so I showed him the document at the bottom of the page in this blog, opened the right pages and showed the corollary of adapted phrases. The specific article I had cited on "Socialist Approaches to the future," and the subsequent "It seems that this is what we are up against," indicated my position.

I was hard put to answer but said "yes." Now people there commented to the effect that my response was "not true," then Ali Mortizavi our chess analysis and co-worker said "CIA agent is you," or something to that effect. I had no paycheck here, so to hire people without paying them is absurd. Then my response was to reinforce the position "yes," by stating "let me put it this way, the SDI speech would not exist in its form without a comment that I made to the White House commentary line on March 21, 1983." The exact words are hazy but the gist of it is here.

I do not know if the involvement of Gary Kasparov politically had anything to do with this episode, but I met Gary in the celebration of the aftermath of the match and found singular best wishes from Brian Clivaz the Simpson's manager who introduced me as "the incomparable Skip Shipman."

I played Gary two chess games in the Savoy Theater, the auditorium where the match between Nigel Short, and Gary Kasparov played for almost two months. I held fairly even positions but lost the first game on time. The other game yielded a similar result, but I spoke with Gary for some 10 minutes outside the theater, when the Chess Base representative came to interrupt our post game analysis.

You see "writing SDI," if you will was nothing very much more than providing an external source that the White House needed to see. It was off the shelf technology if you will. It was for me as it was for Reagan, another commentary, when I picked up that book from my shelf my personal library on about 9AM EST March 21, 1983. The subsequent interplay of the news media and the concurrent discussions made it into a synergy, a much larger reality.

Now I am only touching the surface, however my political science work was entirely a point of understanding, and a will that "I like to see you do well," as regards the actors set for Ronald Reagan. You recognize your own writing, especially when you read your own letters over and over again to get the words right. As stated earlier here it was only because I recognized my ideograph in Reagan's speeches, unique phrases I had written to him prior, that I started with the letters again. You just know the odds, and extrapolate the high likelihood you were quoted, cited, paraphrased, and put to service through your writings.

It was about an every six weeks packet there until 1991, when the end of the Soviet Union, at least for public consumption, made me think "this is too much, and my basic mission is over." It was "getting ridiculous," when your writings held some top priority, and you cannot really tell anyone for years nor make any actual livelihood from it.

My comeback was working that match in London for two months. It was the only real job I had for a long time, and even the remaining compensation of over 1180 quid in cash was stolen at the staff house in Forest Hill London. There were promises that were partially kept but others that were never fulfilled; I suppose they were messages to make me feel better.

Now in any regard to responsibility for world events, any "limited liability if you will," I see for myself is I had only presented the data, while others speak, write it and popularize it. These things were applause lines, things you remember for a long time. Phrases keep coming from the 1980s when they are repackaged.

Is this entire project "power without much wealth?" you could suppose if you look at this project as an impersonal experiment, it could be so. There is a high level of competency involving these issues of speaking and writing. It is in another realm than only experiment. No one is really on top of it all but people can maintain their personal sovereignty here.

The problem is the abstraction here is one of dominion by indirect example, not by direct example. The effect is the same. Maybe people who think they are influential are only correct in their own minds, and to the extent they convince others. People aspire to public office so they will have "power." But no one really defines it other than by the office and the "bully pulpit."

I suppose almost no one will read this, given this blog has been posted for more than a year and I have not really promoted it and note the traffic counter.

Charlemagne once said “Let my armies be the rocks and the trees, and the birds in the sky."

Why SpaceCommand?

It just occurs for anyone reading why SpaceCommand? It becomes clear when issues in your repertoire were in a timely manner as you had presented in advance pertinent to the Strategic Defense Initiative. In many ways that idea has moved ahead with our current Space Command, and is so relevant. You may perceive this principle as personal chemistry, kindred spirits operating through linguistics. For some years you may have read about "sources and methods," as applied research in National Security studies has formed a unique historical perspective. Those having experience in commentaries and other efforts directed toward government may understand this more fully. In my thoughts politics, American Studies, Political Science and Presidential Studies affirm the gist of themes from an autobiographical perspective. Personal interests and scholarship taken together involved The Study of the Future, Music, and the game of chess. That initial focus dovetailed into communications research and a systemic feedback loop of citizen duty. Once you attain something through the writing, the logical follow through is to do so again. But remember this is more than only one personal vision.

For a background in how my project came to pass and how it continues, picture a long walk through a University Bookstore. You are wishing to proceed further with your education after some years since graduation. You find the latest books in your major field, one of which is published by the USGPO. Later you open it into a random page, making your commentary.

So consider how in many ways important things in life happen and are not just from a one minute manager, but a matter of seconds when you make a decision and proceed upon it. On another score, say you call a friend long distance after winning a chess championship, and one year later you end up in London playing Gary Kasparov in the Savoy Theater at blitz chess. You can trace what happened as it began with say 10 seconds of conversation. Translate that of course into your own field of interests.

These events of the chess world happened from specific actions and worlds, but recognizing it now is pertinent as eventualities have happened several times previously from experience. I am certain the principle extends through self to others. Having made this blog autobiographical rather than some current events news item of interest, let me offer thanks for people who visiting here who add their thoughts. Ask questions, after all that is the most basic Socratic method.

There is no doubt in my mind about privately shared writings have already been shouted to the mountain tops by others. In the movies or theater ever so often you see the man at the summit speaking through a bull horn, and then musing with the echo. The aim here is to evaluate and in some sense control the cacophony of words. That you can find yourself being a "favorite son," in politics while continuing in everyday life without public acknowledgments may open more creativity. On another front the reference to the "Nobel Prize syndrome," enters for scientists who so often do less science after the award at the same level.

For me the adventure is somewhat more than any further acknowledgments. While it is comforting to experience awards others achieve through at least some of the efforts, remember it is very often a 10 second world that makes all the difference, as you may get the drift here. FDR more than once quipped to some influential scientist or businessman, "it's all very theoretical," as he moved on to his next task or appointment on his agenda.

Ronald Reagan and the White House once sent a favorite photograph, with equestrian stride. In my thoughts a certain personal approach realized facilitated concepts amidst businesslike developments. It is all about a creative and healthful parlance with active visionary ideals day by day. While facing the future it is always good to proceed with traditional values. That includes the horse, its great stories throughout history, and a bright understanding of the human spirit.

Observations

April 4, 1983 -----------------------------------April 18, 1983

Think about it. The Strategic Defense Initiative, or Star Wars in fact not in fiction was one of the central positions in the 1980s. It is credited as playing a large part for ending the cold war. Prior to SDI bi-lateral relations held a dicotomy where a "bargaining chip," turned itself into a "chess move." Finally the US and the Soviet Union was playing the same game. Indeed part of the SDI theme was sharing the technological shield with the Soviets, to eliminate the nuclear threat.

While the April 18, 1983 issue of Time Magazine stated "Making the Wrong Moves," for the first time the chess verses poker analogy was gone. Now it was chess and only chess. The statement "Making the Wrong Moves," mattered far less than that the paradigm had changed completely. Why didn't anyone notice?

Marsall McCluhan best said it "the media is the message." Possibilities arise when you see the underlying pattern.

Music Chess and Political Future Studies

Well it has been more than a month, and I have to continue this autobiography since it is critical for understanding in more detail the first comment below.

You have the drift of this background disclosure, but these are things that you forget about when dealing with the so called "real world," is that not entirely correct for most people?

Here in Hawaii Catholic School was indicated, from fifth grade onwards. Something in this was appealing to the Reagan administration, Irish Christian brothers, a principal named "Regan," a chief of staff named "Regan," and that made people think of Reagan. Close enough for government work.

I will go on fast forward here for a moment, since I have a story to tell related to why important people would listen to you, and why they do even when you think they do not.

Perhaps I will let you know that the game of chess is not necessarily esteemed by people in the United States, but it is glorified at higher levels of achievement in the historical Soviet Union. I think I really understand the game deeply, say reflected by a current Master title at least from the World Blitz chess association. Can you understand how a blitz player thinks? "You are taking far too long at the check out counter, it seems like 10 million years since you started," to give you some occasional thought balloons.

I am more than a quick study, when I want to I can work really fast, due to this partitioning of time into blitz chess segments. I mean physical labor can exceed others substantially when I want to do it. There is no sloppiness here because in chess you lose when you make mistakes.

Of course the Soviets had their myth of the "Soviet Man," who would out produce others five to one or some such notion. That is why the blitz chess extension of things is critical for one to at least grip the story here and understand at least nominally why I started a political future studies project years ago after college, and why it not only works but it has a power all its own. Take phrases such as "course correction," as applied to politics, not NASA space science alone. We are still using that phrase, but it began on a specific date to be popularized in the Reagan administration, and I will be able from my notes to tell you to do a text search prior and after the initiation of it from my own commentaries directly. I think I have established why people listen or read things I have written as a private citizen to a small audience in the form of letters. What has been even more surprising to me is how deeply these people have read things into a repertoire. You will find that phrase "course correction," as applied to politics, after that date, but not before that date in any popularized context. Little excerpts such as that which have become memorable continue to resurface.

The exact writings from this hand mention a "course correction analogy," as applied to larger concerns about how and why people perceive of political action and words into the future. The idea was meant to be retained as a strategy, not necessarily quoted verbatim.

So to review again here, the background is music, chess, and political future studies. Do not forget "World Order Models Design," the WOMP project, but that arose later. Each time these verbatim selections arose, I was astonished, but it reached a point where "enough was enough." I do not think that is so anymore. Go ahead keep it up, but you must do good on my watch, otherwise nature's God will take action.

Arriving in Hawaii

Well Daddy let me drive in Texas, then the family went to Disneyland. I had already gone there in 1956 on the way to Hawaii, while my father was stationed on number 43 the Aircraft Carrier Coral Sea. But it was 1959 and we did the Matterhorn, looked at the Monsanto Plastic House, and what was my favorite ride? You guessed it, those little bumper cars that we took on a small little freeway.

Arriving in Hawaii in July 1959 was impressionable, since it was about to become the 50th State. Somehow these landmark events as Sputnik, and Hawaii Statehood were happening just as we were arriving somewhere.

Attending Catholic School was interesting for me, being raised in Public Schools up to that time. In my young thoughts there was something better than what most of these people were offering. In general their notion of purgatory and hell seemed too central to the catholic faith, but they distinguished from fearing God to the Love of God. Once you love God it puts away all fear. Very few of these people, nuns included really practiced what I could see myself as a kid, and it is too simple when you fit the words together. Where Jesus speaks tender words, less than tender words happened.

One exception was a Priest, Father Moron. Curiously his name does not mean stupid, it is just a name. His eulogy said how he would do things that others would not do. He would turn on the ground lights at night sometimes, and let the young play basketball.

Vatican II was happening, when our treasured Latin mass was replaced by a less poetic English version. The priest now faced the parishioners rather than facing the Altar. I went from a public school where they prayed in the morning the Protestant "Our Father," to a parochial school where it was Catechism for the first hour every day. The knees ached from kneeling, since being overweight was a problem. The religion period brought the class to mass twice a week.

Later in life I read the Urantia Book cover to cover seven times. Those insights are much different, considering a religion without authorities, simply a book to read or not to read. That was the strange concept, no one in my family took the time to achieve the same blissful readings.
I thought I did understand it, but now read only some excerpts from time to time. Religion is not the sole property of existence, only some scaffolding to achieve continuous self improvement. Even that fails sometimes. But I keep renewing what I can.

More Autobiography - Daddy Let Me Drive

My dad was born in California but he was raised by his grandparents in Texas. He excelled in school, and that is why he entered the United States Navy as an Aviator.

After the experience of growing up near Washington, DC, we had a long drive in our 1958 Plymouth Station Wagon cross country. Remember those cars with their push button drive transmission, and tail fins?

Well we got to Big Springs, Texas. Now my dad used to tell me stories about how he drove a Model T beginning when he was eight years old, in order to transport he and his older sister to school. Well I called him on it at the age of 10! I wish we could have moved the seat up a bit, but I stretched to reach the gas pedal. We were on private property of course. It was a nice 10 minute drive.

Watching country and western late night, I had to remember, as the song rang true.

The White House is Calling

I already mentioned this idea, but let us share as to elaborate. The White House used to call my Grandfather's house on the telephone more than a few times way back in the 1920s and 1930s. He was a delegate to the Democratic Convention, and a Hawaii Territorial legislator. He built a US Army building so strong, that years later people gave up demolition, repairing the slightly cracked but largely intact shell of it to house a military museum. He was a defense contractor. Have you ever heard of the "Grandfather Clause?" It can define different angles, in this context think about it. It should mean you do not hesitate, and as in Margaret Truman's biography remembers people who confided in the President, you say "exactly what you are thinking."

In this leeway you treasure the art of speaking well. "First Amendment," was made for all citizens and it does not require any illusion of privilege. The point here is having just enough time, just enough recognition, to get that message through and watch for the event when anything happens with it.

But if you get it, this family tree is from an honest contractor who bid fair and true, while the proof is in the building years later. It can be so sweet see when the power to do good fulfilled while a better state of mind gives currency to facts.

If being "in like flint," is not the only issue. Think of that family tree not only building military buildings, but also churches even synagogues. All of the latter things had a charitable inclusion. It can be hard telling no one your grandparents have two stained glass windows at the church of the parochial school you are attending. I really didn't care to. But don't forget the local Catholic University also. How do you start from the bottom in such a family, when no one will allow it? Do people esteem you and keep putting you on top of the world? Do you ever feel that someone thinks more in a good light about you than you do for yourself? Then again remember little details such as your daily bread and to give all you can even from your needs. Maybe the fantasy world does become true, but in these meditations family fun is the best of fun. The above cited Basketball victory, the upset of top rated Virginia was an attitude, one of the little known but suddenly beloved underdog who keeps trying. Maybe now you have a clue to what happened only a few days from the New York Times commentary on a 1982 game for what proceeded as a move for greatness.

You can just think of all this as science fiction, if you want. The larger truth is even stranger.

Elvis Keeps on Coming into Our Family Life!

One day my mom was driving in Nashville, and all the traffic lights went red. That was the way local police handle something happening down the street. It was about 1954, and suddenly someone in a pickup truck commented, "It must be great mame, to have those Hawaii License plates." She actually knew who he was, as a local singer, but not as the national sensation he later became. She replied, "yes it's wonderful to be from Hawaii." Both talked for about half an hour, until the traffic lights cleared. People in the military got to register cars in their home State. I sometimes wonder about later movies such as "Blue Hawaii," and what kindles these ideas.

On March 25, 1961 Elvis did a concert in Hawaii raising funds. His promoter for the Arizona Memorial Project was a family friend. I used to think Tucker Gratz looked a lot like Art Linkletter, remembering his visiting my Grandmother's mansion on Sierra Drive on Oahu. He was taking my aunt out to dinner. Elvis raised a good chunk of it that Arizona Memorial. Mom talked to Elvis somewhere along the way when he was here, and remembering that earlier chance meeting in traffic years before must have been interesting.

It is some kind of Ghost movie how I never met Elvis. He later stayed at another aunt's house at Kahala Beach in 1973 for an entire month. April 4, 1973 was when he had the worldwide TV show at the Honolulu International Center. But it wasn't just Elvis who appeared in our lives in that location; try backstage with the Beach Boys, the Doors, all these bands.

That leads to another scene, meeting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, right in the same week as the Beatles "we are no longer with him," announcement. Imagine the approach avoidance conflict here, in with the Beatles, out with Beatles, loving both, then having some sense of a weight of the whole world on your shoulders. In any case other bands and celebrities continued with the Maharishi. It was about Transcendental Mediation, something my parents found in 1967. Many celebrities came into play, oh I remember going over to Donavan's Hawaii house one time, when my mom drove over there. She knew everyone from traveling to those courses TM used to give. "Mr. Leech let us in," I said to one of the handlers. Anyway "Wear Your Love Like Heaven." All I cared about in all this was the music, because I can rock. Fame and meeting famous people has doesn't really float my boat, I wanted to jam! None of these stars seemed to care about jamming, except maybe Hendrix here in Hawaii at the "Art Park," where he walked guitar in hand and plugged into a local band, making it a super band. I’ve played to thousands of people locally, but not for years. College focused everything, while people in the band went their separate ways. Here is our band playing at Sandy Beach Oahu.

One of our fellow bands who played at the Sandy Beach, called "Sweet Rush," was the fortunate recipient of the above mentioned visit from Jimi Hendrix in another location, at the "Art Park." It was just another block north from where Jimi finished his paid concert. I think there are many stories about how Hendrix would jam with almost anyone. I think he heard the band playing and just went in there. That is the kind of spontaneity the world needs today, when sweet dreams became real.

The Life Story Continues

Well growing up with your Dad in the Pentagon is interesting, especially when he has these poster charts in the basement, making up new briefings for Navy public relations. In August of 1957 our family flew into Washington, D.C. I was eight years old. We stayed in a short term apartment for a few days until we found a house in Arlington, Virginia. I am not sure how many people around the country feel about Washington, D.C., however for me it feels like my home town, since I lived in the area for two years. Walking through the Pentagon is an experience, but it was all so normal at that young age.

There was the father-son experience. We started learning to shoot at various places. My brother was six years older, and I was only eight. My father was the military man, a Commander in the Navy, an Aviator. He was the favorite flyer for Admiral Halsey, until he transferred to cover New York for submarine warfare. He was most proud of a perfect record, no ships lost on his watch.

We had a 22 rifle, and took to targets. Everyone was a member of the NRA, and at some times we went to a Marine base to continue our exercises. I think I was pretty good for a kid, but we learned safety and respect for what we were doing first. Maybe this is why I think it is entirely alien, what is happening in Congress regarding the 2nd amendment. If we prize a national defense, and the citizen soldier, people should prepare, not license themselves to unwarranted phobias and heavy controls. It is about safeguarding human rights, when everyone in effect is in the militia. Curiously I have had no need to go target shooting since those two years in Washington, D.C.

Maybe it was Sputnik that impressed me the most, and collecting "Space Cards." Superman was the favorite comic book, while also reading magazines such as "Time," which taught me to read three or four grades above level.

I have a bone of contention these days for those who disparage "Dodge Ball." I was a husky kid, my mom used to say, and the other kids just pelted me and I was out. One day I am not sure if I just "got good," or what it was, but I won! I liked the game, and I think those heavy handed psychologists, or politically correct zombies are flat out wrong to restrict this game.

I cannot omit to mention the piano lessons, but I was already into boogie woogie piano, playing duets with my now deceased sister with such gems as "Heart and Soul." At the end of those lessons my recital played "Yankee Doodle." I just like the song very much, but it was too simple for others. One day my mom bought be a copy of "Bird Dog," by the Everly Brothers, and I just played it over and over again in the basement. I like that song a great deal. Later I found rock music in a new way, but we will get to that soon enough.

Your commentary is welcome as we move forward!

Aloha from Hawaii

Well here I am in wonderful Hawaii, looking out on the palm trees, and basking in the warm air. It is a good life here, while many people here have helped form my thoughts during the past 57 years. Maybe the first of things I remember is playing in a dog house, making me think the saying "snips and snails and puppy dogs tails," has a bit of direct experience. I got out of there and had some corn flakes in a little box, open and filled with milk. It was Tennessee of all places, where my dad was stationed as a Naval Aviator. Well considering some humble beginnings, there was much more to think about. I discovered my mother's side of the family was more or less on top of the world, and in more ways than I previously imagined. She tells me when she was young; she answered the phone when the White House was calling for my Grandfather. She tells me now at over 80 years of age, “I am not afraid of anyone.” He was a defense contractor who actually built buildings. One of them was so strong; they could not bring it down, so they made it into a military museum at Fort DeRussy, Oahu.

While I was in Hawaii in 1956, my Dad was stationed on the USS Coral Sea in the Mediterranean. For some social reasons on my mother's side of the family, I may thoughtfully recognize, he contacted Claire Booth Luce, who assisted in Italy to end some conflicts in the Middle East. I come from a family of peacemakers, so I would want to think about that in all my future decisions, policy formulations, position papers, and other things. It is not too difficult to change the entire world; the right idea is change it for the better. Maybe it is also wise to realize how much you can do anywhere as a citizen. Communications can go around the world, and reflect your style. In my thoughts language is like liquid helium, it pervades everything. You may think of nothing more important that speaking as well as you possibly can, because sooner or later whether you are acknowledged or not, what you say goes, so it may as well go for the better. You only have to read the papers more completely, and recognize your own ideograph. Language is a living commodity all its own. I have studied the future for years since college, and let me tell you this, I have been right about it some of the time, and based on many converging thoughts generated out of the National Science Foundation. This view of the future is not about "astrology," although it catalogs such things as aspects of a long quest for attaining some forward knowledge of images in action. It is about Future Studies advocates who have proceeded upon visionary advancement within scientific method. Reading critical documents some obscure but published by the USGPO, you might more fully understand where our country has proceeded upon great decisions. This book is the one, The Study of the Future: An Agenda for Research. Look it up at many libraries across the US and enjoy. It may be dated, but the technology is entirely valid for the present.

I will continue this blog and will enjoy reading your future comments.

The Study of the Future: An Agenda for Research

Get the document and save it before it's gone. But do not worry it can be obtained in many University libraries.

See page 160 and 161 pdf (148 and 149) for a general idea of SDI, Perestroika, making Nuclear Weapons "impotent and obsolete," and how to end the cold war with hundreds of applause one liners. Maybe this is too deep.

Just picture yourself on vacation in Hawaii, calling the Executive Office commentary line March 21, 1983 at 9AM EST, citing the book name The Study of the Future: An Agenda for Research, as well as page 149 neglecting to read the Soviet joke on page 148. Tell them "it seems this is what we are up against." Wait for your next issue of Time Magazine.

Kick back and watch Andropov say SDI is "insane," because he was listening to his "intelligence experts," when it looks too much like it was cited by a nobody even a less than nobody with rich relatives.

Watch your already inflated chess player ego go into a secretive stratosphere for years. Etc. etc. But there is a far deeper story to all of this before and after.

Note the strong conclusion of the article:

"Neither Russia nor America can spawn the future. The image of the future, at its best, has always been universal in character, a vision to serve and foster the growth of all mankind.....A vision of the future which falls short of this universality will in the end leave the earth a smoking ruin."
